The world’s largest provider of Christian music licensing today launched a web service dedicated exclusively to family-friendly music downloads. Top names like Nichole Nordeman, Casting Crowns, Pillar and Praise are endorsing the most expansive Christian "Napster". Portland, OR (PRWEB) March 16, 2005 -- On April 12, the world’s largest provider of Christian music licensing will launch a web service dedicated exclusively to family-friendly music downloads. Providing a web outlet for an ever-growing genre that includes gospel, worship music, Christian rock and rap, www.songtouch.com will launch at the Gospel Music Awards in Nashville, Tennessee. The site was the brainchild of Howard Rachinski, President and CEO of parent company Touch, Inc. and founder of Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI). Rachinski is noted for creating the Church Copyright License program, which allows churches to copy and distribute music to their congregations. CCLI licenses over 138,000 churches reaching over 21 million people in the United States. “We started CCLI to give church leaders a legal, convenient and affordable tool for accessing uplifting and inspirational music,” notes Rachinski. “At the time, churches needed to be able to copy music to distribute to their congregations. SongTouch is the same concept but for today’s time. People have instant access to the songs they want to hear.” Windows® Media Player has already endorsed the site. SongTouch was included on its newest version, which was rolled out February 2005. The inspiration for songtouch.com came from Rachinski’s nine-year-old son. “Music influences the lives of all people, especially youth,” explains Rachinski. “SongTouch assures that the music is a good influence. Believe what you hear is our tagline. That’s what SongTouch is all about.” Rachinski hopes to host the largest library of family friendly music available on the World Wide Web. The company already has entered into agreements with music industry labels such as EMI/Christian Music Groups and BMG/Provident for exclusive rights to a variety of music. “The Christian music market is growing so rapidly, with crossover artists from all genres – pop, rap, country, even heavy metal. With SongTouch, users can access this music - and more - in a safe environment from a trusted source.” Rachinski has more planned. “We want people to believe what they hear and learn, read, play and see. We will soon roll out more sites that provide a safe environment for downloading content.” SongTouch is a digital Internet store that allows users access to a diverse online collection of Christian music and to copy titles, tracks and albums for as low as $0.90 per download. Members have access to music from major Christian record labels, spoken word recordings and concert footage.
